South West Slaughter!

For two years The Illersapiens have played host to Soul Jam. Tucked away above the Ritzy cinema in Brixton, what is essentially an open mic night with a top draw band, the Soul Jam has provided outstanding free entertainment for any city dweller in the know. Soul Jam has served as training ground for the outstanding break through artist Katy B who fronts the house band with the sensational Mr Man. If you haven't been, make the effort as it's one of the city's unsung heroes. Just listening to these tracks will give you an idea of how ridiculously tight the live band is and give you an insight in to the minds of some of Londons hardest wordsmiths. Cop the Illersapiens Ep here.

Hi-Five. Friday!

5 tunes that we've been feeling this week...Going to be a regular friday post. Watch it!

Bristol based Kahn's been smashing it of late..loving this 'ard little number... it's alot..

M.I.K - Duppy & Leave (Kahn remix) by Kahn

Know very little of Royce Wood Jnr but this lazy beat certainly strikes a chord! As recommend by Jamie Woon.

Paper Aeroplanes - Safe Hands (Royce Wood Jnr remix) by Royce Wood Junior

Young upstart Alby D's deep groove definitely been doing plenty on my speakers of late. Keep your eye on this one.

Future bootleg by Alby D.

The Dark Sky boys  are getting mad love at the moment... It seems anything they touch gets bonkers props! Cant fault them on this Kelis re-rub though.

Kelis - Brave (Dark Sky Remix) out now by Dark Sky

2010 was a biggun for Mosca. Heartbeat remix was up there for tune of the year (2010) Arab'ish vocals on this still conjure up a shiver. BIG

Pay As You Go Cartel - Rinse FM

Heavy mix from Slimzee and co on Rinse from back in 2000. Sounds a bit low quality but selection is second to none and nice to hear the some decent bars on garage riddims for a change. Free download here

Bobby McFerrin - Original Human Beatbox

Never really been a fan of beat boxing (apart from Reds) but this guy blew me away...Mr Mcferrin is also responsible for that annoying tune that possessed singing fishes word wide - Dont Worry Be Happy, but this definitely makes up for it. His voice range is out of this world...

Cyberspace And Reds Mixtape

In Breif...

Mike "The Streets" Skinner's new mix tape plays host to the likes of Wiley, Ice Kid, Jammer and Wretch32 to name a few.. Skinner also puts forward an interesting poem that speaks of retribution, something for the more questionable web wanks out there! You have been warned.
Tune below is definitely a banger! Full mix tape here.

Redux // Saturday Jan 29th

Saturday the 29th of January see's the return of REDUX to its place of origin at Brixton Jamm for a genre defying live music showcase.

 JAZZSTEPPA  (FULL LIVE BAND)

Hailing from Berlin, this live band merge elements of Dubstep, D&B and Dancehall to form their unique sound. Their music has all the strength and the deepness of the dubstep genre, but the live horns introduce a fresh and sensual feeling to these sophisticated rave bangers.

DURRTY GOODZ

Undoubtedly the most talented MC ever to emerge from the Grime scene, Durrty Goodz has been on our wishlist for a hot minute now. He is known for his great versatility, which can be seen in his ability to jump on Grime, Hip-Hop, Bashment, and Dubstep tracks. Having worked with production giants such as Coki and being the only MC to ever beat Wiley in a clash, he is famed for his high energy driven performances and his ability to move a crowd is rivalled by none!

 R1 RYDERS

"R1 Ryders hail from West London, and have blown us away whenever we’ve seen them DJ. With squealing, hardbodied productions from the crew’s DJ Karnak and top boy MCing, we can’t emphasis how badly you need to see these guys" - Fact Mag 2010

LOGAN SAMA

Kiss 100s flagship Grime DJ, whose exposure of live mix sets and first played new tracks has led to him becoming the leading figure in radio for his scene.

HARDHOUSE BANTON

To date HardHouse Banton is revered as an iconic DJ/Producer within the Urban House movement for productions such as 'Reign' , 'Sirens' and 'The Music'.
Banton's eclectic style of music production stems from the mix of Spanish and Jamaican heritage. The passion and fiery temperament of his work being influenced from the Spanish culture, the real 'Hard' style from his Jamaican roots fused with the sounds of UK music make HHB's productions unmistakeable and unforgettable.'.

UNITED VIBRATIONS - LIVE

United Vibrations are charting new waters in the ocean of British Music. Inspired by a wealth of different sources, ranging from Drum ‘n’ Bass and Hip-Hop to rock and afro-beat. They are re-establishing the LIVE element to “Urban”, dance music in the UK whilst re-establishing the Afro-Rock connections seemingly forgotten in these parts.

BUGGSY - LIVE PA

Bristol based MC Buggsy is one of our hot tipped acts for 2011. After taking the UK Hip Hop scence by storm with his show stealing verse on Rodney P and Skitzs' 'Born Inna System' he is currently working with top producers such as Joker (Hench) and MC's such as aforementioned Durrty Goodz with an album due for release later this year.
